hello. i bought AMD Sempron 2300+ CPU. i have ECS K7VZA motherboard with VIA KT133 chipset(133MHz FSB). But the CPU is not being recognized by the board(Unknown CPU type), and it runs at 900MHz only.

i know, that Sempron CPU must work with at least 166MHz FSB, but some BIOS update can fix this compatibility problem. is it true? if yes, where can i get the update? there is only K7VTA3 Sempron support BIOS update on ECS site(this board has 333MHz FSB), will it work with my board, or the only solution is to buy a new one?

thank you...

note that you are using a via chipset, i am also using a via chipset from msi
download it from viaarena.com because when i looked it up at msi and microsoft, they didnt have any.

also make sure that the heatsink+fan was correctly applied (i also had a problem with this)

The KT133 chipset only supported 100Mhz FSB. The KT133A chipset allowed for a 133Mhz FSB. A bios update cannot fix that, it is a physical limitation of the chipset. Also note that neither of the 2 I listed above support DDR ram.

You will need a now motherboard to run that chip at its full speed, period.
