Hello,

I recently bought an AMD Sempron 2800 for my kids from Wintergreen (via TigerDirect.com). It came with 256 M RAM, I added another 512. Pretty much everything is on the motherboard - K8M800. It orignially ran Linspire, but I just reformatted and installed Windows 2000 (kids are familiar with that O/S). So, now it can't detect the onboard LAN / ethernet controller. In Device Manager it has the yellow "?" next to "ethernet controller" I have tried to get the most recent drivers from VIA and AMD but neither website has the right one. I have been funnelled to this forum for help. Any ideas, suggestions are appreciated.

Well first I recommend you run windows update as it may find a driver for your device. Next would be to contact tiger direct or wintergreen systems and see if they have a driver available. Now if neither of those help you may wish to try these options. you need to identify the chipset that actually controls your ethernet adapter (maybe your manual has the specifications that say something like Marvell, Realtek, or even via). But you might first try to use a software program such as Sisoftware Sandra or if you can find it Everest Home Edition, which may tell you something. Your last resort would be to look at your motherboard for a chip that says Realtek RTC, or Marvell 808801 or whatever. Good luck.

i have one also mine came with drivers disk inside the motherboards booklet
along with a linspire disk
