Hi, I recieved my AMD Sempron 3200+ a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if cool and quiet is enabled. When I ran CPU-Z a few weeks ago, CPU-Z reported the core speed at about 990 MHz. Today, CPU-Z reports the CPU at ~1790. I don't think any CPU intensive programs are running. I disabled most of the Unnesessary services and startup programs.

The speed should go down to 990 when I am not running any CPU intensive programs.

I turned off the system standby function in the power options because I thought the standby feature caused problems with my wireless USB adaptor. I'm also using the WeatherBug and utilities for the Linksys WiFi USB adaptor.

The temperature in the BIOS monitor is 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

Are there any settings in Windows XP SP2 I can check? I can't change many settings in the BIOS.

Maybe I shouldn't be worried as long as the temperature is low. /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /> Or mabye I was seeing things. /blink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='blink.gif' />

One thing you can do is right click your desktop, then click properties, go to screen saver tab, click power and then under power schemes , set it to minimal power managment.

Thanks Genm! I must've accidently change the power scheme. /blush.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='blush.gif' /> The clock speed is now about 1000 MHz.

Now I need to find a Windows program that can display the Sempron's temperature. The old motherboard montiors don't recognize my motherboard and chipset.

Edit:
Nevermind. I downloaded SpeedFan. It works with my computer.

According to SpeedFan, the CPU and Ambient temperatures are 104 degrees F. Something called remote is hot at 133 F.

I have a feeling that the sensor listed under remote is the CPU sensor. But the temperature monitor in the BIOS setup says 104 degrees F.

The fan speed is at 2144 RPM.
