This is my first attempt at building a computer. I have a sempron 2200 cpu and my heatsink doesn't make contact with it because of the four cushions on the cpu. The fan is a coolermaster x dream 11, athlon xp cooler, recommended by the sales rep. I have been told that the sink and cpu must make good contact to transfer heat, but there is no way this combo can do that. Did I get a heat sink that's not compatable with my sempron, or did I get bad info about it having to make contact? Thanks, Jim

It needs to make contact or the CPU will fry...

Physics? Ha! This is clearly magic and devilry at work. Prepare firewood! We have witches to burn!

Those pads do squish, you know.

When the HSF is latched on, they will compress to allow contact.
