i built a new system off newegg, put it together like any other system i built but it wont boot. tested the power supply in another system and it worked, took the ram out still wouldnt boot, took the processor off still nothing, i figure it would boot with nothing installed but anyways..

RMA'd the board back to newegg, got the new one, still no boot. cleared the cmos, checked jumpers etc.. im stumped.


heres what i have:
asrock K8NF4G-SATA2 board
sempron 64 2800+
corsair value select ddr400 512mb
cooler master extreme power 430w psu
western digital 80gb sata
lite on cdrw


oh, i should say it wont post, power on, go to bios, cpu fan wont kick on, nothing.

have you tried running it outside the case. there could be a short.

erm.. the power button may not be working correctly..

ill give it a try. my case is pretty shady.

wow... took it out the case and it fired right up, how does a short in the case happen?

its always some stupid little thing it seems
i even heard that if all the standoffs arent the same, it could cause a short and not boot up

what are you a genius or somthin? i have 1 screw in stand off cause my case has wierd ones and i had to add one for my matx board... im gona remove it and see if it boots.

check the button, if your case clicks out and you can avoid the plastic button try the button on there, if it works then the button on the front of the case isnt aligned correctly, was what was wrong with my old case.
