Hello, I currently own an Acer laptop equipped with the Mobile Sempron 3000+, with the 'Power Now!' function. The problem is that it started running continuously at full speed (1800 mhz) even when the system is idle, for no apparent reason, instead of the normal 800 mhz. It's a bit of a problem regarding battery life and the noise generated by the fan. I've tried reinstalling the latest CPU drivers, and eliminated possible background tasks that could've been the cause of this (such as norton antivirus scans), but still no change.

start->control pannel->power options and set the power scheme to power now, or power gear, or whatever you have installed to regulate the performance...
