I'm new to these forums so bear with me.
I have a Sempron 3000+ cpu installed in an Asus A8V-VM motherboard and I'm using a 20 pin ATX 12V
power supply.
The board is designed for a 24 pin EATX connector but still posts and I've installed windows XP with no problems. When you lauch IE it hangs randomly and needs to close with an error jscript.dll. Also the system seems generally unstable and randomly freezes while loading drivers etc, also random errors occur.
I have the correct approved samsung RAM for the board which works fine in another machine and I have tested the CPU in another machine an it works fine.
Am i right in assuming that the extra connectors on the psu are required for stable operation?

Thanks in advance - Luke.

welcome to the forums..
20pin psu can power a 24pin mobo without any problems as long as its powerful enough.. im currently using a 20pin psu with a 24pin mobo and 100% stable..

pls list ur full specs including psu specs..

also try checking ur ram with memtest or prime..
