Hi All,

Could someone please shed some light? I have to build a new server which will run win2003 in terminal services mode, 10 users and SQL server. I have been quoted on an Intel 2 CPU system featuring Xeon 2.8Ghz CPUs 4 GB RAM, what would the equivalent be with Opterons? I prefer AMD if I have to be honest.

Well if you compare 2x 250 to 2x Xeon 2.8 GHz, the 250 are faster. As bosco asked for "an equivalent system" I would say 246 Opterons are sufficient, to get the performance of 2.8 Xeons /wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' />

I would take the Supermicro board as the Tyan board is seriously flawed. But that's just my frustration and the fact that Tyan is dragging their feet with a solution to a problem that is simply their's to fix as it only shows up on the S2895. Not on an S2885, not on an MSI, nor any other board that I've seen.

So, let the darn thing mature first so you don't have thousands of dollars in parts just sitting in a box doing nothing.
