Hello guys,
This is the first time I have ventured away from the "Enthusiast" part of the forums to the big and scary Opteron forums. That said, please forgive me if I seem less thank knowledgable of this stuff (cause I am).
I recently found a used system for sale with this exact description-
Processor: AMD Opteron 146 (2.0 Ghz) Memory: 1x2GB and 1x1GB DDR (Registered ECC PC2100) Motherboard: ASUS SK8V Storage: Maxtor 300GB 16MB Buffer 7200 RPM IDE HDD - NEC ND-2500A DVD/CD-RW Video: Radeon 9000 Series 128MB AGP8X DVI+CRT TV Out Network: 3COM 3C940 Gb Ethernet LAN Interface: Dual SATA Raid,- 6x USB 2.0, IEEE1394 port Audio: 6-Channel On-Board audio Chassis: Antec Sonata Piano Black Quiet Super Mini Tower with 380 Power Supply No Monitor, Mouse or Keyboard.
I would appreciate it much if someone could give me a fair price for this system, the pros and cons, and perhaps some questions that I can pass on to the seller. This is much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Well,
It is an Opteron System,
However, I built the one in my specs for a little over 2000.
In terms of a price for a used computer I wouldn't pay over 1000 under any circumstance for that system, though the parts themselves are worth a bit more.
The HDD in particular is a NICE one, the only up to date piece of Tech in the deal.
I might consider buying personally for 600-800 depending on it's former usage.
As for questions,
How was it used, and how often.
Questions for you:
What are YOU going to use it for? This is a specialty system that is going to still be good for a few things, but not for most things. In other words, you could probably pick up a desktop system for 800 from Dell or HP that would outperform this one in 75% of applications out there.
Depending on how much they are asking and what you'll use it for this could be a great deal or a really bad decision.
give us a little more info and let us help you out.

Thank you very much for your thorough and entirely helpful reply, but I am afraid that the posting for this system has been since deleted. I assume that it has been sold. Thanks again, and I look forward to your assistance in the near future.
