Hi-
This may be the wrong area but is anyone running a cheaper (<$150 for Linux; <$250 for motherboard <$400 for cpu <$300 Memory) 64 bit linux amd system? if so could you post you configuration?

Well...there are now some free distros for x86_64, after trying pretty much all of them I've settled for Mandrake. I haven't had any major problems (yet), and the machine will quite happily run 32/64 programs...I can compile programs as 32/64 using gcc/g++ (or pgcc/pgCC)....pretty much how it should be!

SuSE (suse.com) are selling SuSE 9.0 for AMD64 ($120), and they have a hardware database, which may help you identify configurations.
