I currently am running amd 64 3800+ ,windows xp home, dual maxtor 120 gig raid 0 plus dvd r/w, floppy etc. If I replace the 3800 with a operton 175 will i have to re install windows

Yes you will... but Windows home will only reconize one core, you will have to upgrade to XP Pro to use both of them. (Windows Server 2K3 can see up to 8!
Unless someone knows of a third party solution.

we had some guy yesterday that got hes dual core running on home so MIGHT BE ok.

i was like 99% sure only pro would but you could try save u some cash?

Windows home will recognise and use both cores in a dual core cpu, it will not run both CPU's on a dual socket computer.

So you should be ok in that respect, and you should not have to re-install windows either.
