I'm interested in build a high performance DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) which will include a MOTU 2408mk3/24I/O soundcard.
Looking around, it seems an Opteron 248 using either SCSI or SATA raid will be fine, and perform equally well (the app is Cubase SX).
But the issue is compatabilty with the MOTU.
All pro audio cards are a bit fussy about sharing IRQs and don't like the fact that they have to share the PCI bus and access to system RAM either. The MOTU is particulalrly know for wanting the whole machine to itself.
So I'm looking for a mobo where I can put the MOTU in a PCI slot and have notheing else on that bus - everything else should use a different bus or other direct connection to Southbridge/RAM.
Any suggestions? or any links to reading I could do to get myself better informed about how all this stuff actually hangs together?
