Does the Opteron 250 support Streaming SMID Extensions 3 (SSE3)? I am compiling a Fortran program using Intel's Fortran Compiler 8.1 and when I run the executable, it says that the program is not designed to run on this processor.
The debug version of the compiled program works, but when I optimize the program to maximize speed, I get the above error message. Both the release and the debug version of the program compile and link without error.
The only major differences between the debug version and the release version are shown below:
Global Optimizations Debug = no Release = Yes Inline Function Expansion Debug = disable Release = only inline Favor Size or Speed Debug = default Release = Speed Omit Frame Pointers Debug = no Release = Yes Use SSE3 Debug = no Release = Yes
The only parameter that I can change to make the release version run is to turn off the SSE3 extensions.

QUOTE Does the Opteron 250 support Streaming SMID Extensions 3 (SSE3)? Nope. Current versions of the Opteron processor do not support SSE3 - it will probably be added in future core-revisions(90nm), tho
The upcoming Dual-core Opteron parts(they're slated for release in the 2nd half of 2005) will most likely support SSE3 aswell.
