I am interesting on this server. It will be file server

Opteron 244 1.6GHz (Single)
Ram 512MB (Maybe 1GB)
HDD 80GB X2(Raid1)

How do you think? The work for this server is very basic.

if its hust a file server then the 244 is plenty..maybe overkill.
And I take it you got a single 244 because your using a dual board?, and plan to upgtrade later?. Other wise the 244(dual) is a waste get a 1xx series.

If its purely a file server I would perhaps go a cheaper CPU and grab larger HDD's. 512m should be plenty but if you have a LOT of users 1G might help with disk cacheing.

But as they are the specs are pretty reasonable
