HI all Im going to build a dual opteron 248 or higher workstation to run Softimage XSI on the old FX-51 doesnt have enough bang so its going to sit in the other room rendering. This will be my first time building a dual system so need a few pointers.
Is their a specific type of power supply for a dual system?
Is there a dual PCI express mobo out for the opteron?

As for power supplies, each motherboard vendor will have a list of approved components (power supply, ram, etc...) for their motherboard. It is good to follow their reccomendations pretty strictly. (Unless you are getting an even higher end part than what is listed, but even then you're chancing it working well.)
As for a dual 940 motherboard with PCI-e, there will be...soon(ish).
Tyan, I-will, Asus, MSI... all are coming out with them soon!
Tyan has my money at the moment, but I-will is close behind!
They are both great boards. However, there are no definate release dates so it may be better just to get a reliable existing board like the Tyan Tunder K8W, or something of the like.
