Answer:
So excellent! Thank you.

I checked on the AM2/3, but they use a retention bracket with _4_ holes, rather than 2, so that's out.

But the links help, thanks!

HI. I've just picked up a Tyan S3970G2N and need a Socket F retention frame to screw into the bottom bracket so I can clip on a socket 940 heatsink. (That works on this board, since the pitch is 3.5", same as the 940.) That retention frame comes as two pieces, one for each post of the bottom bracket.

Anyone have any idea where I can pick one or two up? I called Tyan and they said that they don't have any more, and google comes up with sparse results.

Thanks in advance!
Dave.

Found some on frozencpu.com , here.

Bunch more here.

I'm pretty sure the older socket 754,939, 940 all used the same frame so I'd guess Socket F uses the same retention frame as the AM2/AM3, tho I could be wrong!?!

Hi,

Try these...

You'll need to cut into the plastic bracket in order to get it to fit flush up against the motherboard. The reason for doing this is that CPU socket "gets in the way". It's not that hard to do.

Jave.
