I have tried to install several flavors of linux and continue to get this kernel panic

Kernel panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt handler

The closest I have come is with FC4. After install, I cannot boot with the SMP kernel, I can boot with single cpu. Then after 2.6.12 kernel install, I can boot with SMP. However, the system is so glitchy simple commands will flood the screen with errors. Just installing Java throws kernel panics galore, then a system lock.

I know this is not a linux forum, so I wanted to find out if anyone has been successful with the Opteron 275 and any Linux distro. Or if anyone has any info, I really need a place to start to figure this one out.

System Info

MSI k1-1000s 1U server
(2)Opteron 275
4GB PC2700 Reg ECC
Seagate U320 SCSI 15K
