Hi everybody

I've just installed four 1Gb memory modules on a Tyan Tiger K8W(S2875).
I've checked before that they are the right modules type. PC2700 DDR333 ECC REG 184 pin.

At startup, the memory check starts and at around 3400 it stops, showing a few seconds later 4096ok.

Windows x64 starts normaly but cheking the amount of memory in system control panel I see that it is using 3.43Gb :-S

The system is:

S2875 tyan motherboard
Kingston valueRam KVR333D4R25/1GB X4
Opteron 244 X2
Quadro FX500 agp8x
Barracuda 160gb sata X2
IDE DMA133 160gb AND 80gb drives (master and slave on the primary channel)

does anybody know whats going on with this ram problem?

thanks a lot in advance.

Hello Opteron,

That really is a great nick. /dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' />

This may sound basic but I attempted to use the search feature last night and either I was doing something wrong or there was no information in my search.
Could you give me an example of where and what you put in to get your "desired results".
Maybe it was just the luck of the draw I have a lot of experience doing this but Im always willing to learn.

Well always enter search items as simple as possible.
For example for the issue here, search just for the number "4096" because the problem here occurs with people and 4 GB RAM /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />
If you would get too much hits, then you can add more search items, but in the special case here, the results are already quite good:

happy searching /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

Thanks for taking the time to answer.
It seemed like a almost silly question but the
approach you used obviously works.
I have always been quite good finding
information on internet searches but not much luck in here.

It definitely was my search technique. Thanks
