Hi
I have got one sun W2100Z which is a dual opteron system. I have installed RHEL 3 64 bit on this system when i try to check with uname -m i get x86_64. but when i have got 4gb of ram on it it just shows 3.2 gb while booting in bios and also after the OS loads it shows 3.2 gb ram. Can anybody please me to resolve this problem.

You should be able to specify your exact memory size as a boot option eg mem=4096M

What kind of bootloader does RHEL 3 use? grub or lilo?

There is a possibilty this may be a memory mapping thing where IO space for cards/chipset takes up address space...but with a proper 64bit OS and motherboard this shoud not be a problem unless maybe you have some funky things to change in the bios config screen(try reduce agp aperture)

Only the first section matches your question.
You can change the available space by varying the AGP-Aperture size. This is also substracted from your memory. To test it (and see the difference best) try 32MB vs 512MB.
