I have an MSI K8T-Master FAR 2 with 2 Opteron 240s 512 MB (2x256) Kingston PC2700 REG/ECC (MSI Approved) Enermax EG-465P-VE 450W PS (MSI Approved)
The system will not POST with both CPU's installed, but it will run just fine with either one plugged in. When I add the 2nd CPU the fans will spin for about 1 second and then nothing.
The CPU's are not the same stepping, one is C0 and the other is B3. Does this make a difference?? I cannot find any reference to it in the tech. documents. I remember with Intel chips that they had to be the same stepping.

Ok, here is the deal...
I talked to the engineers at AMD and MSI both, they explained that the CPU's DO NEED TO MATCH stepping and revision for vcore. The last 2 characters ie. AL, AH in the part number dictate the vcore and the vcores must match for SMP.
So, now I know why my K8T Master2FAR was not POSTing.
