My first post around here

I have an Opteron 144 with stock cooling (I use the heatpiped cooler that came with a 4800+ dual core), running at default speed, multiplier,... and my temps are 42ºC idle / 55ºC load. I checked the heatsink/cpu twice (OK) and the temps are the same as with the original stock cooler.
Are this temps OK?
My motherboard is the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and they used to read wrong temps.
Case cooling: 2 intake + 1 outake

What stepping does your 144 has? Is it still Socket 940 or already a Socket 939?

IF it is Socket 940 and e.g. C0-stepping the temps are OK for the stock cooler.
If it is already Socket 939 (Ex stepping) the temps are a little bit high. Not critical but could be better.

BTW: the temps inside your case might be better with 2 exhaust and just one intake fan...

OPTERON 144 (E4) CAB2E 0545CPAW - Socket 939

I don´t know what else to do. I even took the heatsink off for the third or fourth time and put it back again (cleaned of course). Everything the same
One of the intake fans is in the HDD bay.
