Let me share my yesterday's experience when I finally build my 2004 dream machine.

Target:
Motherboard: HDAMB
CPUs: 2x Opteron 244 rev C05
HDD Single SATA Western Digital 74GB Raptor
Memory: Crosair 2x1GB PC2700
Target Sistem: Workstation based on Windows Advanced Server 2003
Display: 23" Apple Cinema Display
Video: RADEON 9800 Pro/RADEON ALL IN WANDER 8500 DV/ various SIS made junk
Printer: HP 7xxx photo printer

---------------------------------------
Prerequisites:
A) Put a spare monitor just for the OS instalation because 23" LCD cant show 640x480 DOS like initial screen ...
Copy "Promise" drivers from the CD to 1.44 FDD along with the OEM (inf) files in order to be able to respond when winBozo asks you for additional drivers during the first (DOS mode blue screen) instalation stage
C) To enable graphics and audio on the "WAS 2003" start "Windows Audio" service and set graphics axeleration to MAX.
D) To use RIOWORKS web MB monitoring .. be sure that SNMP is installed.
---------------------------------------
VIDEO:
1. "ATI RADEON ALL IN WANDER 8500 DV" has issues with HDAMB BIOS.
BIOS Ver 1.02. / 1.10C
Freezes immediately after POST or when you try to enter the BIOS setup sometimes with blank screen, sometimes with simmetrical graphical artifacts.

ATI RADEON 9800 Pro although is OK. Low end SIS card are OK too. Have No information about NVIDIA.

ATI RADEON 9800 Instalation issues:
The original CD installation leads to 23" LCD incompatibility. ( no 1900X1200 and ATI Control Manager crashes)
solution:
a) Go to ATI site, download latest XP drivers and install.
Go to the ATI CD and install ATI Control manager manually.
c) Install every bundle you like separately (manually) from ATI CD-ROM.

---------------------------------------
2. Sounblaster Audigy 2 ZS
The original CD installation leads to situation when the PC restarts automatically when entering windows (crapy drivers). Had no time to pinpoint the exact poop.
Solution:
a) Start the CD instalation but deselect all the bundles (they are complete crap anyway). When asked choose Custom install. Then select only AudigyHQ and Surround Mixer (you dont need the other stuff). And install it.
Download the latest drivers and update (the originals are unstable).
restart restart ... restart ... and restart again (cause the creative software is really famous).
--------------------------------------
3. HP 7xxxx Photo Printer
The funniest instalation software ever. Under windows AS 2003 this thing uninstalls automatically its own drivers after everything else is installed (no kiddin!!
Solution:
a) Follow the steps and install the software. You will edn up with the programs without drivers ( in order to believe, open "Printers & Faxes" and "Device Manager" during the installation)
Go to "Printers & Faxes", click add printer and when asked choose to install the drivers automatically. (if you play geek or like to type long paths you can choose the other option)
... END ...
