Hi,

I have a K7D Master-L Motherboard and an installed Athlon MP 2400+ OEM CPU. I'm looking into upgrading this system adding an additional Athlon MP 2400+ to it.

Is it going to be a problem if I purchase a Retail Box version of this CPU?

Thanks

Depends where you live...I'm in the US and I usually shop at newegg...they have MP2800's at their website, quite expensive though...I'd contact AMD sales support directly.

Hope that helps!

I'm sorry if my question wasn't clear enough. The thing is my system (US purchased) came in with 1 AMD MP 2400+ cpu which turned out to be OEM. I'm planning to upgrade my system to Dual Processor. So I'm wondering if I purchase the 2nd CPU as Retail Box would it have problems running SMP with the other OEM branded CPU ?
(both same speed AMD MP 2400+ one Retail the other OEM)

Should be no problem...OEM just means that the cpu came with a shorter warranty and without an heatsink and fan...whoever built the machine added the heatsink and fan to it..

No difference in cpu's..
