I have got a server AMD mp1800 and looking at setting this up at home
2 X CPU's (speed 1533?)
4 X ram slots
1 X AGP
4 X PCI? .. longer slots??
2 X PCI slots
a chip on the board says amd 765

I put in some DDR400 ram and it would boot into bios, but could never put an OS on, kept getting the blue screen of death
I put in some old ram 256mb DDR PC266 and works fine

where can i get my full specs and potentials?

1) could i upgrade bios to use my DDR400 ram?
2) what ram could i use?
3) I have 2 xp2500 CPU's, could i use these, are they any better?
4) The longer PCI slots, can i utilize these? I want to connect 4 - 6 sata drives, gig ethernet card and a sound card (no onboard sound)

when pc boots, i see 2 processors, in device manager i see only 1 (MPS Multiprocessor PC)
win xp pro sp2

any advise would be greatly appreciated, and patience also!!

Please use CPU-Z and Everest Home to get/provide more details of your system(mainly exact motherboard manuf.,model& and BIOS version of your current set).
Then maybe someone here may have info on your RAM and CPU options, drivers etc.

Here is one 10page article of an MP AMD-760 (765 southbridge) motherboard, that resembles yours.

http://www.pcper.com/article.p...114&type=expert&pid=1

It supports fsb 133, so a XP2500+ might not work, or not at its full speed, as they are for 166MHz fsb.

Thanks for your time

would you be able to tell me what mother board i could get, or type i need
my current motherboard will not pick up sata drives, i have tried everything
so im willing to upgrade, but would like to use the same processors

i would prefer a board that i could use DDR400 ram as my current board only supports PC266 CL 2 ( i couldnt even get CL2.5 to work)

what info do i need to know, i.e. socket type???

Thanks

You could try to find a nforce2 chipset based board. They use socket A(462) and one of your XP2500+ CPUs should work, along with your DDR400 RAM. Many of the later nforce2 boards have SATA controllers on-board. VIA KT600 and KT880 chipsets are also an option.
