Hi,

I just upgraded from a dual Athlon 2000+ MP to a dual Athlon 2800+ MP and something doesn't seem right. The motherboard shows both cpu's and detects them correctly (seems that way) on startup but Windows XP looks like its only using the one cpu. The device manager shows that both cpu's are detected and working fine, the computer is also configured for multiple processors but the CPU performance graph only shows one cpu (where it should show 1 graph per cpu). I've bench marked my computer and it benches like 1 cpu even though it says its a dual. When it was a dual Athlon 2000+ MP it benched way higher, came close to and beat a dual Pentium 4 Xeon 2.0ghz in certain tests. This dual 2800+ MP doesn't.

My system consists of:

2x AMD Athlon 2800+ MP
1x ASUS A7M266-D (bios 1011.003)
1GB PC2100 Registered ECC DDR Ram
1x Western Digital 80GB HD w/8mb cache
1x Western Digital 160GB HD w/8mb cache
1x Linksys 10/100 ethernet card
1x Pioneer DVD-ROM
1x ATi Radeon 8500 64mb ddr
530watt powersupply.

Thanks.

Hi All,

Thanks for taking a look at this issue, but I have solved it. The problem was with the bios. Something must have goofed so I loaded the setup defaults and it is performing as it should be.
