I have a dual processor setup as follows:
Tyan Tiger S2466N board
Two Athlon 1800 MPs
1 512 stick of korsair ecc mem mem
OS: Redhat Linux with a 2.4.22smp kernel
I started having a lot of problems with page faults, system hangs, crashes, and even log outs in the middle of working with my system. I began to suspect a memory problem. I ran memtest86 at
http://www.memtest86.com/' ">http://www.memtest86.com/ and found that I had a few memory errors only when running with cache turned on. In my BIOS I was able to enable ECC for my memory which seems to have solved the problem right now. I shouldn't have to do this though with stable memory and cache. My next step would be to test and pull out each processor to verify that well hopefully CPU0 has corrupt cache. Are there any FREE tools that are available to test the processor cache? If not, how could I get the cache tested?
Thanks
