Hi,

I am building a new server with following configuration

Tyan S2466-4M motherboard.
2 AMD Athlon MP 2800+ CPU
2 512 KingstonPC2100 RAM
Promise SX6000 pro raid card with 128 MB
4 120GB Western Digital Harddrives
Asus 9520 FX 5200 AGP video card.
BenQ DVD+RW
500 Watt Mad Dog Power Supply

Now the problem is that my monitor keeps going in "Power Save Mode" after some time. BIOS counts memory, initializes RAID card and as soon as OS installation starts monitor blanks out. I can hear hard drive, and blindly I have also done partial installation of OS, but can never complete it and monitor never comes back online.

I have tried to install 3 different OS (Suse 9, RH 9 and XP), sometimes it stays up for 10 mins sometimes 60 second, do not know why, as soon as the boot loader comes up, monitor goes offline.

I am using brand new 15'' LCD monitor. I have also tried old 17'' CRT, both behaves the same.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rahul.

Sounds like it's most likely a Video Card problem, since it's occurring on multiple monitors, and the rest of the system is working (assumed from partial OS installations).

If you can, try using another video card. If you don't have another one to test with you should call the Video card company and go through their lame tech support.

Yes it was Video card. Finally I replaced FX5200 by ATI Readon 7000 64MB and every thing was back on track.

I wonder why Tyan website says they support FX 5200.

Thanks.
