I'm new to this forum, but here goes from Wydene in the UK!

The motherboard is the ASUS AV7600 memory is 2x 256 MB DDR 333 2700

I think the above proceesor on my PC is faulty, It never really has worked faultlessly often stating from time to time that the settings are wrong I'm always check they are correct before rebooting out of the BIOS! the reason being was the PC kept hanging and I was redirected at boot up to the CPU section about wrong settings for CPU speed! if you sellect 2083 MHZ at 12.5x 166/33 ( the correct setting?) it will hang and no display! if you set it to a lower setting at 1667mhz 12,5x 133/33 it will boot but will soon lock up even in the Bios or even at the lower setting of 1250 MHz 12.5x 100/33 (I only change the CPU speed as demanded by the BIOS, leving everthing else at AUTO!

The temparature in hardware monitor in the bios is between 32deg C to 33deg C ( when running at 1667 MHz) variable fan speed at approx half way!

The reason I beleive the processor is at fault is dut to the fact, that I swapped it for a 1600 Duron and it run faultlessly! I set that at 1600 and left everthing else on auto,

I don't by the way overclock as I only run windows applications and prefer reliability than speed!

Any help on this would be most appreciative, thanking anyone in anticipation.
