I have tried installing Centos and Scientific Linux on AM3 or AM2+ computers, with no
success. I have tried serveral versions, both 32 and 64-bit. I could install Oracle linux, as they have
apparently modified the RHEL source unlike the other distros.
Now the answer I usually get is "ah that ***** is meant for servers, you can't put it on a desktop!"
Yet I have been able to install the RHEL derivitives on desktops running Intel CPUs.
