I'm looking at Xandros Desktop Home Edition Premium. Is this any good? I know there are some free stuff out there, but this looks good. I was going to dual boot with XP Pro, just to see how it is. Any suggestions? Thanx

It's good that it contains a lot of apps one might need. And yes, you can dual-boot it with XP.

I've only used the Business Editions and can comment on them:
They were good for business use and allow you to use Windows applications with it. Basically like Lindows (Linspire) but with more business orientated functioning and the overall look and feel of functioning was designed like Windows XP for easier transitioning.

Xandros is alright; it can run on lower-end systems very nicely and has Crossover to run Windows apps. However, for a beginner's Linux distro, I'd go SUSE. It dual-boots with XP as well (well, literally any Linux distro can dualboot with other OS's lol). In general, I use a lot of open-source apps on my iMac (except for iTunes, which is freeware so that's cool with me), like OpenOffice (which imo runs way better than Office 2007), Firefox, Blender (3D modeling), and many others.

Yeah, I got Xandros installed, but, this is the first Linux system that I've used. I still cannot figure out how to install the Nvidia GPU drivers. I'm reading around trying to learn.

I've never used Xandros, but have heard good things about it(Gentoo user). To install Nividia drivers, you're going to want to download them from the Nvidia website and make them into an rpm, that would probably be the easiest way for you to do it. They should have a guide for you to follow about the make files and then installing the rpms you need, hoping that your card is supported.
