THOSEF- Thailand Open Source Software Education Foundation, THOSEF-2007

We start the initiative of THOSEF a Thai group of software developer in Ubon Ratchathani, North Eastern of Thailand (close to the borders of Laos and Cambodia), with some friends in Bangkok with the challenge of keep our enthusiastic and hope in Linux to offering alternatives at the proprietary licensing software.

October and November was two months very busy because we want to get the year 2007 to initiate our dreams, we running to deploy a AMD server for our web site and we are studying Asianux server 3 to evaluate security, compatibilities and management content system, to apply for a Asianux strategic partnership.

Trough our THOSEF website in Thai and English languages we want to teach and promote, how migrate to open source software, how Linux work in Debian kernel; the different flavors distributions, Ubuntu, OpenSuSe, Fedora, Berkeley Software Distribution, K Desktop Environment; The Apache software Foundation and their server, the open source database MySQL; SYBASE and compatibility with Oracle Database Software and programming languages like PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby: basically, web development in LAMP.

We are new in many IT technical jargons, most of them difficulties from the Thai-English-Thai translation, like the unfinished OpenOffice project in Thai, but we are confident to find answers from all the open source community around Thailand, Asia and the World Wide Web.

Welcome THOSEF-2007, Cheers!
