Asus Crosshair AM2/AM2+ (Not Crosshair II)
AMD Phenom 9950 BE
Hey Forum,
Just got my brand spanking new 9950 in today. I upgraded to 1207 bios revision right before disassemble. I installed the thing, turned it on, posts beautifully, lists that the 9950 is recognized, and then it went to a screen that should have been the "sata/raid controller boot" that read: "Unsupported CPU Detected" Shutting down in 20..19..18, etc. Sooo, I read the number a little closer, referenced it and it turns out I have the 140w 9950 BE. *****?
*bEgIn RaNt*I don't see why AMD would make this 140W to just turn around and market the GREEN factor of the 125w to all of the motherboard makers which in turn stop producing "legacy" support for motherboards that can still handle the 140w. *eNd RaNt*
Question: Does anyone know if there are any rumors of a compatible flash coming for the "Olde" Crosshair?

I have been using the 9950 BE in an old Crosshair motherboard for 7 days. I had to downgrade my BIOS from 1207 to 1103. I think that ASUS purposely broke compatibility for 140 watt processors in BIOS 1207 so that we would have to upgrade to one of their new motherboards. Eventually I am going to upgrade to the Crosshair II for the new features but for now the old Crosshair is holding up just fine.
