I just upgraded to a Phenom 9750 and im getting idle temps around 63c and load temps up to around 80-85c on the cpu
When i ck the core temps 1-4 they read around 45c and the cpu temp is 65c at idle
Is this normal for this processor?
3 case fans
Stock HSF
volts cpu core 1.33v
cpu fan 3125 rpm
no overclocking just install on a abit an-m2

Well if your temp readings are accurate then the temps are too high, the max temp recomended is 63C..!!

So the fact that your idle temp is => than the recommended max temp, its safe to say that the temps are too high..!!!

You might want to first check with some other monitoring tool your temperature readings thought, there are plenty avaialable...!!

Try downloading a few and checking the temps in each of them.

To name a few..... my favourite is Everest, and there's a new version just been released as well, v.5.0 you can download a trial version from the Lavalys website.

If after checking with a few different apps, your temps are confirmed to be accurate, then you really need to address the problem, you can try re-seating the HSF and applying a good TIM like AS5 or MX-2, or Ceramique....!! If the problem is still there, then you might want to consider replacing the HSF with an aftermarket cooler, again there are a variety to choose from, depending on your needs.... quitness with reasonable cooling, or max cooling with noise or something between the 2....!!!!

First thing to do is to make sure that the readings are accurate though...!! What are you using currently to monitor the temps...????

Yes i have tried two different programs to test the temps.....abit utility and my main one is Everest Ultimate Edition.
I just booted up this morning and my temps are 1-4 core 40c and cpu 55.
I'll try appling a different cpu paste and resetting my HSF and see if it changes.

I've just installed a Phenom 9850 in an AN-M2 (BIOS rev 19), using a stock X2 6000+ cooler (copper base, heatpipes, aluminium fins). I'm also noticing that my idle temps are high. 55C in fact, with about 30C ambient (warm day today). Under load these temps exceed 63C. This is according to BIOS, and libsensors/ACPI under Ubuntu 9.04 AMD64.

The curious thing is, the fan speed is only 3375rpm, open case. I would expect this to be higher if the CPU was feeling a bit hot. This cooler is known to work with a 6000+, the fan speeds up to about 5000rpm on hot days when the CPU is under moderate load. At idle with the Phenom, the heatsink feels nowhere near 50C to touch, more like 40C.

I'm wondering if this board and/or its BIOS is having trouble correctly reporting the Phenom's true core temps. I haven't booted into Windows with this CPU yet, so haven't had an opportunity to test out some other monitoring programs.

I don't know if is appropriate, but if I open SpeedFan or the Cpuid HWmonitor, on my Phenom, there is a third temp, TMPIN2, showing as 87-90C.

Since it doesn't show in the BIOS PC-Health page, I figure it's bogus, or just an unused register available on the ITE IT87 chip.

The other temps, system and cpu are reading 43-47C, while the cores are 36-43C.
