Hi, 2 months ago I bought these parts to make a pc.
Here is my spec:

Procesor: AMD Phenom 9750 Quad-core, MMX, ~ 2.4GHz
RAM Memory: 4GB
OS : Windows XP SP 3
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275, 896MB
Power Supply: Thermaltake 550W

In the first month I was playing crysis for example on very high settings (Hack tool) and I had a pretty good fps, now im getting like 20-25 fps, not playeable, World of wacraft runs on about 20-45 fps when NOT in a major city, I heard other people getting about 80- 90 fps in wow on a much lower performance pc than mine.I'm really frustrated, I tried everything to solve this, like installing 3 versions of windows, reformated my HDD, got the latest drivers and none of this solved my problem, i'm still getting 20 fps in wow and 25 in crysis etc.

Forgot to mention that I am running WoW on ultra high settings with a resolution of 1680x1050. Crysis at the moment is running on very high settings, 8x AA,1600x1024 res.
SOS Please!

no way in hell that CPU can ever power a 275 GTX.

No way no how. Your missing at least 800 Mhz needed.

550 watt PSU with a 275 GTX is unlikely at best.

So this combo is not that great? Should I get a new CPU?

Get a new cpu cooler and overclock your cpu to around to 2.7GHz you should be fine.
GURU is right about your psu, 560w is what you need for your current set-up.

Ok I am a gaming nut when it comes to "Performance for a budget".

What I would do is get a AMD phenom II quad core and overclock it as high as it will go stable and smooth with out to much volts.

Try for at the very least 3.2 to 3.4 Ghz in speed.

Then make sure your runing some decent gaming memory with decent timings. Overclock the north bridge.

Use a decent 750 watt to 650 watt PSU with around 52 amps 12+ rail for overclocking headroom.

Then overclock your 275 GTX to at the very least superclocked or FTW speeds.

Use the right settings in drivers with the right drivers and watch the in game FPS skyrocket.

That's what I would do lol.

Hell get the phenom II 550 BE dual core and overclock it to 3.5 Ghz to 3.7 Ghz and you would also be set.

Ok, so I can OC my current procesor to 3.2 GHz by getting a 750W PSU and a new cooler for the cpu?
Buying a new cpu really frustrates me thinking that I just bought this one 2 months ago .
Should of thought more before investing, ***** that guys from the shop is stupid, he didn't say anything about a bottleneck or anything, ah well...:S.

What motherboard are you running with what bios ?

CPU you have now is a phenom I, highly inefficient design and overclock limited to say the least.

So knowing your board will help advise you on what CPU will fully power the 275 GTX if the 275 GTX is pushing a decent OC to say FTW or superclocked clocks.

Athlon II Quad $122.00

This CPU will hit 3.2 Ghz to 3.5 Ghz on air with ease.

Or you can do it right and get a 3 Ghz to 3.2 Ghz quad phenom II.

My recommendation is the 550, since you really don't need a quad for gaming.
The 550 is inexpensive, I believe it's $102.00 at Newegg with free shipping.
It's a screamer, mine is overclocked to 3.7GHz with just a slight bump in CPU Vcore Voltage.
It stays very cool, even under 100% CPU stress testing.

It's the first edition, doesn't say anything else.
In the top right corner of the user's guide it says E4378 V1, if that's of any help to you.

Pick the CPU and flash to the supported bios.

275 GTX has a lot of graghics prosessing power potential, if your going to tap its potential 100% then a 3.2 Ghz or faster CPU is need. Preferably a quad core and your going to want to get fast gaming memory with tight timings and a nice OC on the North bridge. Around 2.2 to 2.6 Ghz.

Lastly a decent OC on the 275 GTX is a must.

Nothing that's going to hurt it. Around superclocked and FTW speeds will do fine.

Note: one last thing, loose XP its a 10 year old OS. You will want Windows 7.

I recommend the 750xt 750 watt corsair PSU.

NemesisChild's suggestion of getting the----- Phenom IIX2 550 (HDZ550WFK2DGI),3.1GHz,80W,rev.C2,SocketAM3,Dual-Core 1.01G
0701------- kinda makes me think, is it worth it? Is quad core not that important in gaming?

All about the game and if it utilizes multi core or not.

in truth most only use 1 to 2 cores tops, but they must be a high clocked , high performance dual core if its going to work.

In my opinion a 550 BE @ 3.5 Ghz to 3.7 Ghz should do fine yes.

But some games use all 4 cores and this is where quad core comes into play.

Shop based on needs and have little extra headroom for growth.

I own a hella lot of games. I would say 10% of them only use 1 core

40% use 2 cores tops

50% use all 4 cores even.

Like I said CPU speed is only 1 part of the equation.

For in game FPS performance the key components are,

CPU
North bridge
Memory
GPU
PSU

One part is lacking it all unravels fast.

CPU = Phenom II dual triple or quad 3.2 Ghz to 3.5 Ghz Ideal
North Bridge = 2.4 Ghz to 2.6 Ghz Ideal

Memory = DDR 2 1066 5 5 5 15 or DDR 3 1600 7 7 7 24 or DDR 3 1333 6 6 6 21 4 GB minimal for games.

GPU 275 GTX = OC to superclocked speeds by increasing the stock fan speeds some. 713/1512/2520 FTW speeds or 684/1512/2430 for superclocked.

PSU = 650 watt to 750 watt Ideal 83% efficency or better with minimal 52 amps 12+ rail or better. 750 watt corsair 750xt recommended

Address these issues and your going to find your gaming experience increase 10 fold. You will find that you can run higher eye candy with a lot smoother game play.

So, between a Phenom ii x2 550 and that Athlon ii quad what would you pick?
Also, I am going to need a PSU of 750W + a new CPU Cooler, right?
