I just recently purchased the Phenom II 955 x4 3.2ghz processesor and i flashed my mobo to Bios 1701. Everything starts up great. But the speed of the processor core speed is only 803mhz. The 1701 bios update makes the phenom 2 compatible with my mobo so im not understanding why the speed is so so slow. i will post screens from CPU-Z so you see what i mean. I have a AMD X2 6400+ that i took out of my mobo for this new one and it ran both cores at 3.2ghz.


Im at a loss. i have no clue what to do at the moment. I see no reason for it to not work like it should. Other people who has done the same, report no problems, only the usb keyboard problem but thats easily fixed.

I think i made a mistake of not clearin CMOS before i put the processor in. Did i screw things up completely? This chip is suppose to be compatible but as you can see from the images its running super slow. Much slower than my duel core.

Classic Cool & Quiet sympton, just disable it in your bios.

No its not settled. My cool and quiet was already disabled. I did just about everything. On another forum i was told that my cpu wasn't compatible BUT the bios update is what makes it compatible. I changed CPU Multiplier to 16x and that started to show the cores running at 3.2 but CPU-Z still showed it at 803.7. Every game i have dropped in frames tremendously even highlighting desktop icons and opening the start menu slowed things down. So i went back to my AMD X2 6400+ processor and how everything's perfect.

I don't know what to do other than buy a new mother board. I really don't want to have to do that but i want to put this processor to use. I dont understand how other people were successful with there installation when i did the exact same thing they did very carefully. If anyone has any new ideas im all ears.

Yup Nemesis is right, lots of guys have gotten the 940s to work on that model of board, but no one has had good luck with anything above the 940

Check this out for the issues with that model of board
