I run a server with a Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, 16GB of DDR3 memory, and an SSD boot drive. It's an Ubuntu 10.10 server that currently hosts Minecraft and Counter-Strike: Source servers. I'll be moving it to a colocation datacenter for network access, so the system itself will definitely be my bottleneck in the server role.

I purchased the system with the intent to upgrade to AMD's 16-core AM3 Bulldozer when it was released, but now it's going to be an 8-core AM3+ Zambezi...

All three processors have 6MB L3 cache.
The 955 is 3.2GHz with 4x512KB = 2MB L2 cache.
The 1090T is 3.2GHz with 3.6GHz Turbo and 6x512KB = 3MB L2 cache.
The 1100T is 3.3GHz with 3.7GHz Turbo and 6x512KB = 3MB L2 cache.

AMD's Turbo technology disables three of the six cores before overclocking the remaining three.

Assuming that the system will be running two or more Minecraft servers and two or more Counter-Strike: Source servers, what kind of performance increases will I see when upgrading to the Phenom II X6 1090T or 1100T Thuban cores? Is it worth the investment?

I heard the Bulldozer was 12 core not 16
But again you need a motherboard that can support that too

You will definitely benefit with the two additional CPU cores.
Regarding Turbo, most of us here in the forum disable it in the bios because we gain better (raw) performance via manual overclocking.
It's doubtful that Bulldozer will be able to run on an AM3 platform, so everyone would have to migrate into an AM3+ board.

If it were me, upgrading to either the 1090T or 1100T would be worth it.
