As far as I know ( please let me know if I am wrong ), if a 1600 MHz RAM is used with a Phenom II, the Memory Controller of the Motherboard comes in action, not the IMC of the processor. My question is, if I under-clock the RAM down to 1333 MHz, would the IMC of the Processor be in action?

Is there any way of knowing which controller is actually accessing the memory?

Thanks in advance.

The IMC is on the CPU only.....IMC = Internal Memory Controller....and by "Internal" it means within the CPU. Run the RAM at 1600Mhz and be happy!!
