Budapest 65nm core out now runs HT 3.0 in AM2+ motherboards by the way. When using socket AM3 it will run HT 3.0 and DDR3.

There are some rumours that only AM2+/AM3 serise will be Deneb and everything after that will be AM3 only.

If true, then what's is the point of shelling big dough on good 790FX+SB750 motherboard, if it will be obsolete practically from the moment of getting good, stable BIOS ?

It's on Fudzilla:

Only AMD's Deneb will support AM2+/AM3

Problem is, according to the diagram, "who-knows" phase is to come much sooner, even Deneb FX will be AM3-only...

If so, there seems to be no point shelling substantial $$$ on AM2+ mobo as it was not meant to last.

After AM3 release the AM2+ platform will I think fall onto the mid-high end solution with AM3 specifically targetted for the high end uber gaming geeks besides Am3 proc's will work on them Am2+ mobos so you got great upgradability

There never was great upgradeability path with K/8/10, not since S940. It was always something that made me throw my board awas before I got the chance to do CPU upgrade.

In light of that experience I can see no good reeason to shell big $$$ for A79A-S class board.

Intel is on the high end now, K-10 covers from low to high-ish part, so it is prudent choice for byuers that are after biggest bang for a buck, but also demand decent performance.

So, if you spare a buck or two on CPU and a few more bucks on RAM, there is no point in going for high end board, since it will bring the price on intel's level.

One _might: be able to defend such choice if he could amortise board costs through at least two CPUs ( one that he is going to byu with a board and at least one upgrade), but this seems infeasible...
