I am having a random error. The first problem was a hang or freeze. The computer would become unresponsive. No mouse or keyboard ctl alt del produced no result. I waited a bit, then held the power button and forced a shut down. This happened every other day or so, sometimes twice. Finaly one day I got BSOD (by the way I NEVER GET BSOD ON ALL AMD PLATFORM UNTIL AM3).Then BSOD stopped. After that that I got hypertransprt sync flood error. I am not positive but I think that I have been playing music every time the error occurs. But to be fair I am always playing music so that might be a coincidence.

Steps so far:
reinstall OS
BIOS update
underclock mem to 1066
back at 1333 now

I too am having this problem. However i have noticed it happens rather quickly (within an hour) of a cold boot, but after the restart it seems to work with out any issues. I have even start just booting it and then rebooting it just to avoid the issue and that seems to work. Not sure if that helps in the troubleshooting process or if you are noticing the same thing.

I am getting the same error, but it seems to have happened at random times while I am playing a game. The computer freezes and whatever sound was playing starts to loop. When I restart, I get the "hyper transport sync flood error on last boot" error. I contacted ASUS support and they said: "This is either a BIOS or CPU issue. Please update to the latest BIOS. If that does not help then you will have a problem with the CPU."

However, I already have the latest BIOS (1303). Does this mean I need to RMA my CPU and get a replacement?

Mine seem to happen no matter what i am doin, games, browsing the web, or just nothing at all.

I have updated to the latest version as well 1604

Im thinking it could be CPU related then.

I'm encountering the same problem; it seems to occur at random times, in both windows and linux, running a game, just watching flash videos, MSN and a browser open, whatever, running apps, system load doesn't seem to be any sort of cause. A memtest returns 0 errors so I do not believe it's a memory error.

I'm running:
ASUS M4A78T-E BIOS 1604
AMD Phenom II X4 955 AM3
Patriot extreme PDC34G1333LLK 2x3GB 1333 DDR3
EVGA NVidia 9800GT

No overclocking of any sort, system typically around 37C CPU temp. Voltages all appear fine.

Hmmmm it looks like you are all running Asus boards? Guess I'd start by checking their FAQs/support forum/newsgroup and see if there is a known reason and fix for this error if you haven't already.

Hi folks,

first I'm really glad that I found this post here. I was really disappointed because of these weird crashes.

I have excatly the same situation. After the first boot my system hangs and is not responding anymore. I still se my Windows/Linux desktop but it's frozen.
After pushing the reset button everything works fine.

I also got an Asus Board (M4A79 Deluxe) and OCZ Memory (Something with Platinum) and an AMD Phenom II X4 940.
Yesterday I saw at the ASUS page that there is a new bios version available and I thought maybe my problem is solved with it. In the description there was talken a lot about freezes. Not exactly my situation but I gave it a try. So, the problem is still the same but on plus I have had the "a hyper transport sync flood error occurred on last boot. Press F1 to continue" error.

Did anybody of you solve the problem?

Thanks in advance

I have the exact same board and processor, until recently I had the same memory also. The memory went kaputt and now I have geil 1066 8500.

I also have the same problem. Before updating my bios to the newest bios. I had random freezes and resets were the only cure.

With the new bios, I have hyper transport flood errors.

On the asus boards there is also a discussion related to this. here
Hopefully the problem will get determined soon.
Some say its the memory controller others say its the mobo.

Has anybody already tried the new ASUS BIOS 1901? Did it solve the problems? If I have time tonight, I will check it out.

There is a link to the ASUS boards HTSF error post. This might help although it is not the same motherboard as some of you builders. Pages 9-11 are the most telling.

I'm not having any issues with my M4A79 Deluxe. But I don't really play games that much. I turn my system on and off daily as I use it, the only time it stays on overnight is when I'm downloading or backing up the system.

I hope you guys find the solution, Goodluck!!

I just installed Windows 7 and I am still getting this problem. However, now I am getting more information. In the event logger, I have several hundred (~500) WHEA-Logger warnings like this:

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core Error
Source: Corrected Machine Check
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information.

This leads me to believe it might be a defective CPU cache. I will start another thread another thread with more specifics.

Looks like a problem with Asus M4A series mobos. The latest BIOS 2001 for my M4A78T-E did NOT fix the problem, I got "hyper transport sync flood error" within hours and machine crashed.

It has been fixed with the new BIOS release.

Well, I have the ASUS M4A785TD-V-EVO with an unlocked Phenom II X3 720; rock stable with hours of stress testing. I upgraded to the latest BIOS that came out today: version 0410, but I am still getting the WHEA-logger errors in the event log:

(sorry this is a Dutch Windows version)
