I have a Phenom II 940, and built my machine earlier this year, It was working fine up until two weeks ago. I turned it on one night went to log into one of my games, and played for about 30 seconds before the screen went blank. I looked at the side window, and noticed my ATI 4850 based card, had two red lights on. Of course that isn't a good sign. So I took my video card out, and placed a spare one I had. The computer didn't boot. I tested out my 4850 in another machine, it worked fine. I also tested my memory out in another machine, that worked fine too. I RMA'd my motherboard thinking it was broken, and I got it back today, and reassembled my machine, but the same result, the two lights were flashing red on the video card, and I get nothing when I boot it up.

Welcome to the forum!

Can you possibly install your 940 in another computer just to verify that it is in fact CPU related?
The other component that you need to troubleshoot is your PSU.
Please list your PSU brand & model number.
If possible, replace your PSU with another that you know is running fine in another comp or a new one.

Good luck.....

I have no way of testing the CPU or getting another CPU to test on my motherboard. There used to be a mom/pop store where I lived that I would have been able to test it, but I no longer live near it.

My PS is a Corsair TX750W. I might be able to test that.

More than likely it's not your Corsair TX750W, even if it's a few years old.
Just to be sure, place the Corsair PSU in another comp and test it there.
If the PSU tests fine in the other comp and you've ruled out the MB, then it's probably the 940.
If I remember correctly, there's a 3 year warrantly on AMD CPU's, so call them and request a RMA replacement.

Btw, what motherboard and memory are you running?

My motherboard is an Asus M3A78-T and the memory is 4 gigs of OCZ Reaper 1066 mhz. I will test the PS though, before RMAing the CPU.

Hooray, I'm glad that you got it solved.

Bummer that the Corsair TX750W went bad, probably the first time that I've ever heard of one going south.
