Hello, I want to overclock my AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition. I'm new to overclocking and had some questions. My CPU is currently at 2.5 GHz and I'm hoping to bump it up to either 2.8 or 3.2, but my Heatsink is currently at 59 C. Should I consider an after market Heatsink before proceeding? Also, I need someone to provide me with step by step instructions on how to overclock this processor.

A)Is that a reading from your "core" or "cpu"?. Most of the time "core" temps are a calculation and are unreliable. Check your CPU temp in your BIOS and match it to the same temp you can see in whatever software programme your using (eg Speedfan), if its not labled. SpeedFan lables them as "Temp 1" "Temp 2" etc.

Q) Should I consider an after market Heatsink before proceeding?

A) YES!! I've gone for a Thermolab BARAM with two 120mm fans in a push pull config, also got mosfet heatskinks and will also get some better cooling for my North Bridge.

A)Read this its about the Phenom 940BE but it teaches you how to OC with a cpu with a unlocked multiplier, which yours is.

hi i wanted to overclock my amd phenom II x2 545 from 3.0GHZ to 3.3GHz. when i restarted my pc it said system failed to start because of overclocking.what should i do.it runs very good on default but i wanted it to go faster.by the way my motherboard is gigabyte ma790gpt-ud3h

hi i have an AMD Phenom II x4 965 (AM3, 3.4GHz, Cache 8MB, Box) with Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3(AM3/890GX/DDR3,VGA) and PowerColor PCS+ HD5850 SVGA (PCI-Express, 1GB)

WILL I have a problem with Pny RAM DDR3 2000 mhz? can my system use them ? totaly? would i have to OC anything>? i am new... HELP SOS ....
