I currently have a problem with my Phenom II X3 720.

Win 7 64bit
4 gig ram
ASUS M4a78 Plus Mobo
Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 5770 1gig

(I've done all the necessary steps before this. Updates, drivers, adjusting the CCC.)

I've been trying to run a MMO at top settings. (Lord of the Rings Online) It tends to struggle at any setting or resolution. I read somewhere that if a game is a single threaded application, then it won't work right.

Well....I tried that theory by changing the "core affinity" in Task Manager. I set the affinity to 1 core and my game experience was much much better. I did the same test with 2 cores and I got the same great results.

All 3 cores gives my game grief. I did this test many times and got the same results every time.

Anyone have any idea what the problem may be? Is it a problem or is it truth about multi-threaded versus single threaded applications?

Any tips would be great. Thanks
