Hi,

i'd like to downgrade my toshiba notebook L300D-12U from Windows Vista to Windows XP.

My Maschine is an AMD M780V Athlon QL-60 with an ATI Radeon 3100 Grafic-Chipset.

I have to install the sata drivers bevore installing XP.

Does anybody know where i can download the drivers or what other possibilities i have?

Thanks for any help,

in short, Just install the OS then use Everest ultimate to find the flash info and google for the drivers needed.

Not so fast.

First of all, default SATA drivers have been built into XP since sp1.

Most people update them (they are part of the chipset driver package) after they install XP.

I don't know what chipset your laptop uses. but if toshiba never offered your model for sale with XP installed, they may not have ever developed XP chipset drivers (and hence XP SATA drivers) for it and none will be available.

Some people have had success using drivers for similar products from the same manufacturer (with the same components and chipset) that were sold with XP. But unless you're pretty good with troubleshooting and familiar with drivers and how chipsets work, that can lead to some expensive problems.

Basically, if Toshiba doesn't have the XP drivers for your model available, installing XP can be very difficult.

And your problem isn't only finding chipset drivers, it's also finding Audio drivers, Webcam drivers, Fingerprint reader drivers, SD Card Reader drivers, etc..

Perhaps if you link to the complete specs for what you bought, someone with knowledge of how to do what you want with that model will be able to help you.

The drivers you need are the ATI SouthBridge drivers. I downloaded them to a different computer and ran the install. The install will fail because it does not detect any of the devices but it will leave the drivers folder behind. I used nLite to slipstream Windows XP SP2 into my original Windows XP install disk and nLite also has the option to include extra drivers while building the disk image. I just told it to include all of the drivers in the ATI SouthBridge package. Now I can install Windows XP SP2 with the SATA drivers all at once and I don't even have to do the F6 option to include extra drivers. I found the drivers for the M780V chipset here: http://game.amd.com/us-en/driv...?p=xp/integratedip-xp

I hope this helps all the people out there frustrated with trying to get the SATA drivers for Windows XP on Toshiba AMD laptops (that is for the search engines <grin>.
