Thanks for the link. I found Turion II and Athlon II based laptops. However, what's the battery life like? My commute is 2 hours one way, so a laptop with 4+ hrs battery life when doing word processing would be best.
I do have a small mobile Back&Decker mobile power charger pack that converts DC to AC 110. Weight about 1 pound. Fits in the palm of my hand and gives enough power for an added 1 to 1.5 hours via charger .
Smaller the screen with integrated GPU over dedicated the battery life will hit 3 hours tops under max battery saving and 6% screen brightness. But that's a 14.6 inch screen.

According to the Computer magazine c't (German) they tested:
15,6" Acer Aspire 5542G (Athlon II X2 M300, Mobility Radeon HD 4570),
16" Asus N60Dp (Turion II X2 Ultra M640, Mobility Radeon HD 4650)
17,3" Acer Aspire 7540G (Turion II X2 M520, Mobility Radeon HD 4570)
The battery-life was usually around 3-5 hours.
The systems needed between 12,7W (5542G) and 15,5W (N60Dp) in idle mode.
The ASUS' N60Dp battery life is up to 3 hours.
The Acer's 7540G battery life is up to 5 hours.
