Compaq Presario (HP) CQ62-225NR - AMD P320 2.1 GHz Dual-core CPU, 4 GB DDR3 PC3-10600 1333 MHz RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 4 Month Review -

As I write this, I have Avira AntiVirus 10.0.0.611 Personal Edition doing a full system virus scan, with Eve Online Incursion running in the background @ 1366x768x32, full screen, high shaders, medium detail & medium texture, around 46 fps, zero stuttering.

I also have Google Chrome 9.0.597 running with 5 tabs open, mIRC 6.21 with 6 windows open, Yahoo Instant Messenger 10, and 4 sidebar gadgets running.

Everything is smooth as silk. Eve doesn't stutter at all, frame rate locked on rails at 46 fps, no skipping or dropped frames. System still very responsive, even with Avira doing its thing full bore on both CPU cores.

CPU temperature at peak load (using Speccy 1.08) shows 68° C.

With the system fully loaded like this, I still have 2026 MB RAM available, according to Task Manager.

I think these numbers speak for themselves. This is one beast of a little notebook. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. Picked it up new at the local Staples for $379 last September 29, 2010.

Only things I did to it was upgrade the RAM from 3GB to 4GB, and did a clean, minimal install of Win 7 64-bit, and tweaked down the services a bit. Still have Aero, Composition & Flip3D running.

I think I can put off the N640 CPU upgrade for a while yet.

Oh yeah, one more thing:

This notebook's Geekbench scores! Can't forget those!

Linux result: 3124
Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS 64-bit
