Just bought an HP ZV6000 laptop. I have the power options to always on. Here is the following scenarios.....

If I turn it on with it plugged in, I get 1.99 GHZ but unplug it I get 997 MHz.

If I start it up on battery, I get 497 MHz but if I plug it in I get only 997 MHz.

The only way to get the full processer speed is to reboot with it plugged in. Is there any way of adjusting these settings? I have it set to always on in the power schemes.

Any suggestions???

thanks

A followup...

I want to get the full power so obviously I have to keep this plugged in. In time past, I was encouraged to unplug it and run on battery because keeping it plugged in at 100% charged could shorten the life of the battery.

If I leave this plugged in at 100% will it shorten the life of this battery?

thanks
