Hello!

I have a Compaq Presario V2000z with Turion ML-28 processor.

I was wondering how easy or difficult it would be to upgrade this processor in the laptop to pretty much anything higher. While my budget might not allow me to take it to something like Turion X2, my only question is on the feasability of it.

What technical knowledge would I need for the same?

The cpu is upgradable to either a Turion64 ML or MT series. You will need to do a bit of disassembly. It is not something I would recommend for a first timer. But I would let you decide on that. Check out the service manual which describes the steps required in order to access the CPU...
