Go to newegg, and search for the socket 754 turions. or if you want a desktop replacement type chip, the mobile athlon 64s are a good shot. dont know if their compatible though cause they take up more space than the turions. check hp for details.
754 pin Turions and Mobile Athlon 64's, DTR's or otherwise, are identical mechanically, and very close electrically...
Stick with the Turions, as they both should fit, "thermally" in your existing laptop, especially the MT-xx versions...
BIOS should be your main concern, as you state, since we've heard many tales of the BIOS not recognizing Turions in HP laptops. YMMV..
Take a look at Pricewatch and also Google "Turion" to find all places selling Turions...NewEgg hasn't had the best price on Turions lately, though they may be getting better...
