I'd really like to use a 35 W mobile Athlon 64 in my next desktop system, so I'm looking for a compatible motherboard and HSF.

Do I just need a motherboard that supports the necessary voltage, or is BIOS recognition important?

As for the HSF, I'm concerned about the exposed core. I imagine most Socket 754 heat sinks are designed for use with the integrated heat spreader.

I would probably put this in a standard ATX case, but I would also consider a small form factor system, like a Shuttle.
