hello, looking for some help as this is driving me mad !!!

I've got a sony vaio fx804 notebook with amd 1500+ xp processor

since reinstalling windows xp the computer gets very hot and the battery power is shocking - I get about 5 minutes max on battery and that is when I'm not even doing anything.

I've got all the xp driver updates from microsoft including the amd powernow driver for xp, checked all the battery settings but still cannot get the power management to run properly.

somebody please help - I'm going crazy

If you are literally only getting about 5 minutes off the battery, your problems stem much further than software issues. FWIW, what version of the actual processor driver are you running? What power scheme are you set for?
